Tony was born in Edgecombe County, North Carolina in 1951. He proudly served in the United States Army for sixteen years. He spent three of those years fighting in Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart. He loved his country and was proud of his military service.

He also leaves a daughter, Michaela Holland; a son, Tony Ray Holland Jr.; and two sons he loved and helped raise, Charles Taylor and wife Julie, and Travis Taylor and special friend Christina; and a brother Larry Holland.

Not only was Tony a husband, father, friend, but was also a loving Papa to his grandchildren. He leaves behind his granddaughters Cheyenne Samilo, Theresa Samilo, Trinity Holland, Brigitta Holland, Jazmyne Holland, Bayleigh Pate, and Bryanna Taylor; grandsons Dakota Samilo, Johnathon Samilo, Justin Taylor, and Christian Taylor, one great granddaughter Briella Zuniga, a great grandson Alex Smith, and several nieces and nephews.
