J.E. (John Edgar) Joyner was welcomed into the kingdom of heaven on November 10, 2017 in Tarboro, NC. He was 90 years old.
Mr. Joyner was born June 15, 1927 in Wilson County. He graduated from West Edgecombe High School in 1946. He was a well-respected business man in Tarboro, NC for over 45 years. After retiring from the business world, he began a furniture building hobby that filled his home and the homes of his daughters with many beautiful and unique pieces of furniture.
Mr. Joyner loved people and enjoyed talking with everyone he met. Always a kind and caring person, he continually put the needs of others before his own. Being a man of strong faith, he believed in the power and strength of Jesus Christ’s love and the beauty and peace that would be waiting for him when he joined his savior.
Mr. Joyner is survived by his wife of 71 years, Ruth; his daughters, Jo Ann (Mike) Turner and Deborah (Rod) Medlin; his grandchildren, Dennis (Shannon) and John (Nydia) Hoard; seven great-grandchildren; and his brother, Harvey (Hilda) Joyner. He was preceded in death by his parents; and five siblings.
A memorial service will be held at St. James Methodist Church on Monday, November 13, 2017 at 1:30pm, with visitation with the family following the service.

I met Mr. Joyner February 16th when my step-father became his roommate at Spring Arbor. He was a wonderful man and I enjoyed many hours with him and his family. I will truly miss him!! May the love of family and friends comfort you during these difficult days, I and my mom send our most heartfelt condolences.

Ruth, Jo Ann and Debbie, We are very sad for your loss. We can only imagine how difficult these last years have been for all of you.
