Janet Taylor Moore, age 83, passed away on December 25, 2017. She was the daughter of the late Percy Errington Taylor and Ruby Batchelor Taylor of Nashville, NC.
Janet was the eternal student. She graduated from Nashville High School in 1952 and went on to attend St. Mary’s College in Raleigh. Twelve years later with her two daughters in school, she enrolled at East Carolina University and graduated with a BS in Education in 1968. She returned to ECU in 1985 and graduated the next year with a MA in Education. She taught in Tarboro City Schools until her retirement in 1995. In the fall of 1995 she began teaching at Edgecombe Community College. This proved to be so rewarding that she continued teaching English there until 2004.
A former basketball player, and always the athlete, she enjoyed being physically active late into her life. Known to her grandchildren and their friends as Mema, she loved to be surrounded by young people. In her retirement she indulged in her love for travel and especially enjoyed trips with her daughters and grandchildren and their friends. As a lifelong learner she was a voracious and avid reader.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts can be made to the Edgecombe County Library (909 N. Main St., Tarboro NC).
She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, M. Alvin Moore, Jr and is survived by her daughters, Gail Taylor Moore, of Alexandria, VA and Janet Moore Bridgers and her husband H. Vinson Bridgers, Jr. of Tarboro and her grandchildren Katharine (Kate) Taylor Bridgers and H. Vinson (Vince) Bridgers III.
A graveside ceremony will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 11:00am in Greenwood Cemetery, Tarboro.
The family would like to thank the wonderfully kind caregivers who eased her final days.
Funeral arrangements by Carlisle Funeral Home.

I’m sorry for your loss. May the God of all comfort, Jehovah, give you the courage and the strength to cope. (2 Corinthians 1:3,4) The Bible further comforts us in Psalm 55:22 “Throw your burden upon Jehovah himself, and he himself will sustain you.” May these scriptures and God’s promise of resurrection hope gives you comfort during this time (John 5:28,29).
