The family and friends of Sylvia Diane Whitfield lost a true angel Thursday, November 2, 2017. Sylvia never met a fur baby she didn’t fall in love with because animals were her love and passion. She was previously employed at Vidant Specialty Clinic for 18 years where she made many friends. She was a loving and caring and generous friend to many. Her passion for her family and friends was immeasurable.
She was preceded in death by a sister Sheila Braddy Taylor.
Sylvia was the beloved daughter of Ann Braddy of Nashville, NC and the late Clyde Braddy. She is survived by her lifelong soulmate and best friend Michael Ray Hathaway of 27 years of Tarboro, NC; the loving mother to her two sons the light of her life Douglas Whitfield of Annville, Pa. and Michael Tyler Hathaway of Dayton, Ohio; Adam Brown and Josh Miller who have always called her mom and she considered them her sons; her long time best friend Petrice Mitchum whom she resided with for the past year. She is also survived by her beloved feline fur babies Axle and Emma and a canine fur baby Sophie. Sylvia also had an extended family of Petrice Mitchum, her grandchildren Trey and Rayne Davis who she considered as hers, and two good friends Todd and Tammy Lapan who loved Sylvia very much.
The family will receive friends Monday night at Carlisle Funeral Home from the hours of 7 until 9 Pm. November 6, 2017.
Her death leaves us all with a big loss. We love you Sylvia. Fly High with the Angels Beautiful.

Celebrating the life of Sylvia Diane Whitfield
Thank you for signing Sylvia Diane Whitfield's Guestbook
To The Family,
When mankind was first created, God intended for all humans to be happy and for love to permeate the earth. Therefore , when that ugly enemy, death, strikes a family, all should show loving concern, empathy, and sympathy. As a volunteer minister, I read the obituaries several days a week. My goal is to console and comfort the surviving family members. I was saddened upon learning of the death this young woman, Ms. Sylvia Diane Whitfield. When someone we love dies, it is the ultimate pain of sorrow. The best thing that we can do is to have faith in God's Word the Bible. The Son of God, Jesus Christ, likened death to sleep and stated that when he calls, the dead will hear his voice and come out. (John 11:11-14; 5:28,29) Jesus' statements gives us an ASSURED hope that out deceased loved ones will be awakened from the sleep of death, and sickness and death will be done away with forever! (Isaiah 25:8; 33:24) Nothing or nobody can stop God's promises from being fulfilled. May the Almighty God comfort you at this most difficult time. Please accept my deepest thoughts of sympathy.
