Edith Margaret Johnson Watts, 93, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family. A celebration of Edith’s life will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 11:00am at Carlisle Funeral Home. Pastor Mike Edmondson will be officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Edith was born in the Temperance Hall Community to William Whitehead Johnson and Minnie Etta Williams Johnson. She was a founding member of Hart United Methodist Church and a faithful member until the church closed in 2016.

Edith was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Lacy Watts; her daughter Patricia Watts Andrews; and son in law Horace (Gene) McQuage. She was also preceded by her eight sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by her daughters, Darkas Adams, Scarlet McQuage and Portia Poole and husband Gary; and sons Coleman Watts and companion Ann Head, and Rhyan Andrews; Grandchildren Lacy Adams and wife Pam, Leslie Taylor and husband Ashley, William Adams, Michael Andrews and wife Lucy, Danielle Watts and companion Jeremy, Shane McQuage and wife Ashley and Logan McQuage and wife Ashley: Great grandchildren, Tyler Adams , Skyler Adams, Kacy Adams, Britt Taylor, Laura Taylor, Ash Taylor, Katie Taylor, Carmella Andrews, Georgia Watts, Caid McQuage and Jax McQuage due in August; Great-great grandchildren Camden Adams and Isabela Rivera.

The family would like to thank Dr. Meridith Taylor, her staff, and the Hospice Staff of 3HC for their kindness to Edith and her family.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 9, 2017 from 7:00-9:00pm at Carlisle Funeral Home; and other times at her home on 2406 N Main St., Tarboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Speight’s Chapel United Methodist Church, C/O Mike Edmondson 1489 Pleasant Hill Rd, Rocky Mount NC 27801.
