Brenda Cook

Mar 23, 1952 - Apr 15, 2017

Tarboro

Brenda Sue Cook, 65, of Tarboro, NC passed peacefully into heaven on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Larna Willard Cook and Lenora White Cook.

Born on March 23, 1952 in Richmond, VA, Brenda was a lifelong resident of Edgecombe County and a graduate of Tarboro High School.

Brenda was an optimistic person, always smiling and willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. She loved her family dearly and cherished every moment she could spend with them, especially her grandchildren. Brenda also enjoyed spoiling her faithful dog, Cha-Cha.

After building a successful company that she began on her kitchen table in the late 80’s, Brenda retired from PAGAS Mailing Services in 2004. Her entrepreneurial spirit and drive created a business that, at its peak, employed 50 people in Tarboro and 50 people in Charlotte. After she “retired” she started another business, 3Scrapateers.com and then another, CardScraps.com. Brenda enjoyed holding card-making classes in her home studio and sharing her card-making skills with the residents at The Albemarle.

Brenda is survived by her son, Wesley Jones and his wife Karen; granddaughters, Meredith Lombardo and her husband Anthony, and Sarah Jones and her fiancé Josh; along with many other beloved family members and lifelong friends.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, April 21, 2017 in the chapel of Edgecombe Memorial Park in Tarboro, NC with Pastor Mike Barnett officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm in the chapel prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society at http://www.cancer.org/donate or to a charity of one’s choice.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Carlisle Funeral Home, Inc., of Tarboro. Online condolences may be directed to the family by visiting www.carlislefuneralhome.com
